New to Shirley Jackson

Hello All! I've recently discovered Shirley Jackson... I frequently order books from Amazon and I saw her name on my recommended reading list and clicked on it because i work with a lady named Shirley Jackson and so it caught my eye. I ordered the new printing of Penguin's Illustrated Classics of We Have Always Lived in the Castle. I adore it and the cover art. Last weekend i purchased The Lottery and Other Stories. She's amazing. I've found a new favorite author.

Her style sort of reminds me of Flannery O'Connor.

I hope to see this community active and look forward to participating!

Welcome to the club!

You sould find some of her other short stories, including "The Lovely House" and "The Possibility of Evil."

Of her lesser-known novels that I've read so far, Hangsaman is fine but the ending confused me, The Sundial frustrates many but I enjoyed it, and The Bird's Nest is brilliant but you should not read any synopses or anything so it doesn't spoil the fun.

Many treats in store. Enjoy! And not only good stories, but exquisite use of language. She will refine your ear.
